Vanisko Hotel

The pool was huge, with floats and balls to play with, and a lifeguard keeping an eye on us. There's also a bar for drinks and snacks. A supermarket and mini market are right next door, along with a nice restaurant serving good gyros. We had a delicious breakfast with plenty of choices, and our room had been tidied up so nicely. When we first came inside, the staff were amazing and made our family feel comfortable straight away. For our first time in Greece, this was a lovely experience. I totally recommend this place, and thank you!

The location made getting around simple: there's a bus stop right outside for quick trips to and from Heraklion, a big supermarket in front, and a Lidl two minutes away on foot. The airport is a 10-minute drive. I had a wonderful first visit to Greece, and the hotel and staff made me feel welcome. Everyone was friendly and ready to help. The room was spacious with a nice balcony, and it was cleaned daily with towels changed every two days. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which was essential in the Greek heat. The pool was lovely too, with a lifeguard there. I'd highly recommend staying here!

The owners clearly take pride in keeping the hotel clean, cozy, and well maintained. Its location is great for exploring Crete, and the whole place feels relaxing and welcoming, with a genuine family-run atmosphere. What made our stay special was the service. Every staff member we met went out of their way to make us comfortable, and their guest-focused kindness made us feel more like friends visiting than hotel guests. They were happy to suggest local restaurants, give directions, or simply greet us with a warm smile at breakfast. Vanisko Hotel gave us one of the most heartwarming and enjoyable hotel experiences I've had. I highly recommend it to anyone who values personal service and authentic Greek hospitality. The buffet experience was also unpleasant. A staff member made us sit by the entrance instead of at one of the available tables we chose, and spoke to us in her language in an unpleasant tone. At the morning bar, the waitress said the card machine wasn't working, but we saw her using it that afternoon. When I asked her not to heat the milk, while also saying I didn't want a cold cappuccino, she looked at us as if our preference was unreasonable. I hope she never gets treated that way in Spain, where we don't treat visitors like that. At the pool, the lifeguard kept scolding my children for swimming to the far end, even though my son has been a confident swimmer for years. Younger children were doing the same thing all day without being warned. Overall, the staff's treatment left a lot to be desired, and our experience at Hotel Vanisko was quite negative. If you're Spanish and expect polite, respectful treatment, I can't recommend this hotel. Even the worst hotel in Spain wouldn't treat us this way, and this place presents itself as a quality establishment. Your staff aren't polite.
