We loved the noise of the port. You're staying right there, so that's what you'd expect, and we found it wonderful. There's also a lovely view across the whole port from the self-service area, where you can get soft drinks or coffee. Or just head downstairs to a really good coffee and ice cream shop. Giorgos was polite and helpful throughout. The bed was comfortable, the A/C worked well, there were plenty of plugs, and the small shower had good hot water and worked fine. The bathrooms are small, but it's an old building with little scope for changes. The place is expensive, but it's so close to the boat that you don't need a donkey to carry your cases. Hydra has stairs everywhere, and you can only get around by walking and climbing them. If that island life isn't for you, don't come. People should stop complaining and enjoy the place for what it is.

It's just a hop, skip and a drink from the ferries. George was very helpful. I called him at 6 in the morning to say the hot water wasn't working, then went back to sleep. He thanked me later, since it meant the other guests didn't find out about the problem.

After a first night that was truly, truly noisy, the manager agreed to move us. The replacement room was a little larger, but the window faced a dull interior passage where anyone could look in, so there was no view. I appreciated the change of room, but the price still felt outrageous for the quality and service, and the manager refused any refund. We'd booked far ahead and paid 200€ per night. I don't think the place is worth more than 80€ a night. The manager had us sign the payment confirmation before we saw the room. It was nothing like the photos: very small, old and dirty, with nowhere to hang things or even put down two suitcases. The bathroom wasn't shown in the pictures, and I can see why. The shower curtain stuck to my body, and it was a struggle to fit between the toilet and shower. It took me back to being a student. Even for Hydra at that time of year, 200 euros was far too much.

We chose Delfini for our one night on Hydra because we wanted an easy check-in and a reasonable price. Since it was a quiet day, our room was ready at 12PM, so we could start exploring right away. It was clean, the A/C worked well, and the free self-serve area had water, coffee and tea. Nothing fancy, but the basics were there. It's directly across from the ferry. Before leaving, we went down for coffee and boarded without wasting any time. Just right for a convenient overnight stay.

The location couldn't be better, right in the middle of plenty of great restaurants. We had a balcony room overlooking the harbor and found it clean and comfortable. The owner was friendly and helpful, and free drinks, including juice and coffee, were available all day. There are a lot of stairs up to the rooms if you're carrying heavy luggage, though the hotel is reached quickly from the cobblestone path. We really enjoyed our two-night stay.
