Hydra Hotel

Daphni at reception was a wonderful hostess and a very good professional. Some rooms have a lovely view, but one of ours had an air conditioner that didn't work, and the hot water in the shower only lasted around ten minutes. For the upmarket price we paid in low season, the breakfast really needs a lot of improvement across the board.

The room was clean and spacious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Still, it felt overpriced, the breakfast was poor, and there was no iced coffee. The Wi-Fi in the room was awful. One small improvement: offer guests a cold drink after they haul their luggage up all those stairs.

The rooms look pretty and the location is close to the harbor, though getting there means nearly 100 steps uphill, which is tiring in the heat. The hosts were very nice, but it took a lot of convincing to get an iron without paying a fee for each item of clothing. The furniture and beds seemed crammed in, as if the room was meant to have one fewer bed. Other hotels offered a better layout and location for less, so I don't think this was worth the price. Service was mediocre.

The balcony views from our stunning room were incredible, and breakfast was great. Donkeys met us at the port to carry our bags. There are lots of steps, but manageable without luggage. We had an amazing stay, especially for the price, and I'd highly recommend it.
