Calilo

We had a fantastic stay. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was delicious, and the views were beautiful. Everything was handled with great attention to detail. If you can, go for the fine dining experience and couples massage.

We had a lovely time at Calilo (Ios). The design is really distinctive, and the setting is beautiful. We got to stay in three suites, Sea of Smiles, Journey of Hearts, and Rebel of Souls, and each had its own feel, very different from the usual.

Waking up to sunrise from our villa balcony was one of those peaceful, almost spiritual moments I won’t forget. Leaving this paradise for Athens and then home was hard, but Calilo gave us memories we’ll treasure. As the Greeks say, “Muntil we meet again” (Until we meet again). Efcharistó, Calilo, you’re beyond words. The place has just 36 rooms, and each is completely different, full of its designer’s creativity and optimism. We also got to see a one-bedroom suite, which was magical too. We had booked a two-bedroom suite but were unexpectedly upgraded to the three-bedroom “Journey of Love.” We weren’t sure it would suit us as two couples, but it turned out to feel like a dream. A highlight was visiting Pathos, also created by the same visionary. We met Mrs. Vassiliki Petridou, the warm, genuine, lively person behind Calilo, Pathos, and many other gems on Ios. We only spoke for a few minutes, but her warmth and energy will stay with me. It was my friend’s birthday, and when we returned from Pathos, a handwritten card and thoughtful book were waiting in our suite, despite the 45-minute drive. We later learned she had called the manager several times to check on us. She also gave our wives a beautiful silk set with several items inside. That generosity and hospitality really touched us. Even the arrival felt special. We were picked up at the port in a luxurious van, and at the gate Yannos welcomed us with a drink and tasty snacks while explaining everything. Elle looked after us at the table and was genuine, helpful, and so much fun to talk and laugh with that we felt like friends. The property itself felt like another dimension, mesmerising, intriguing, unique, and magical.

I celebrated my birthday here, and it was my best one yet. The whole stay, from arrival to departure, was outstanding. The team were professional, warm, and welcoming, and every interaction came with a smile. They clearly take pride in their work. A big shout-out to manager Theodore, who kept checking in to make sure we were having an exceptional stay. The private pools, main pool, and beach were beautiful. My favourite was the onsite church, finished with such careful attention to detail. I’d recommend the resort to anyone looking for luxury, comfort, and warm service.
