Manganari Bay feels like a peaceful haven, with beautiful beaches and little mass tourism. Dimitri and his family were lovely and welcoming. The rooms are simple but very clean, just 50 meters from the sea. The restaurant is right on the beach and very good.

The beach and bay are stunning, and the service and welcome were attentive. Just be ready to spend your time in the sun or under a parasol! There’s only one round-trip bus connection per day, so I had to rent a car to get to Manganari. The road is very beautiful, though. I’d booked four days, but after two I was really going in circles, as I was traveling alone. The room’s comfort was fairly basic, and the value for money isn’t among the best on Ios. I have mixed feelings, but the place is worth seeing.

The beach view in the morning is wonderful, and I’d suggest staying one night. We booked three nights through Booking.com, but after the first night we started looking for another place because getting to the center in the evening was extremely difficult. It’s a 40-minute drive along a mountain road from the center. Scooters are absolutely not recommended because the road isn’t lit at night. There’s nothing nearby, no supermarket or tobacconist, only a restaurant owned by the motel owners. The rooms are very basic, and the bathrooms are cramped and need renovation. We also couldn’t communicate easily with the property. They only answer phone calls, and the language barrier made those hard to understand.
