The bed bugs were the last straw. We found them shortly after checking in at Helios Pension, then went straight to the manager and demanded a refund. They gave us one without much hesitation, which made us think this may have happened before. We left as quickly as we could and won’t return. The room felt filthy and badly neglected. The place is extremely old and in desperate need of renovation, with dirty floors, worn-out furniture, a rock-hard bed and a general feeling that it hadn’t been cleaned properly in years. The whole experience was horrible and disgusting. I’d strongly advise looking elsewhere. It’s a health hazard, avoid at all costs!

You get fantastic sea views at any time of day from this old-school pension in a great location. Earlier complaints about cleanliness, slow internet and awful bathrooms no longer apply. For a budget stay, it’s great value. The one thing they should improve is adding some kind of sun cover to the balconies for the afternoon. The structure seems to be there, but the cover itself is missing. It’s a real shame that the direct, scorching sun makes it impossible to sit outside after 13:00. Yassos, Helios :)

The owners are so friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome. Helios Pension offers great value, with clean, comfortable rooms and good wi-fi. It’s also in a handy spot, about five minutes on foot from the port and port beach, and ten minutes from the village.

The owner was kind and friendly, and even offers a free transfer despite the pension being close to the port. The rooms are spacious and clean, with marble floors and built-in beds with comfortable mattresses. The pension feels peaceful and homelike, with stunning views over Ios port and the port beach. It’s also very close to Ios Chora, on the steps that connect the port with Chora. Guests staying here get special offers at Helios Rock Bar in Chora, which the same owner runs.

Great value and very clean, with comfortable beds. It’s close to the port and not far from Chora. We really enjoyed our stay and the views, and we’ll definitely come back when we’re in Ios. Thanks so much! :)
