Ilias Place

For young people exploring the island in summer, this was great for the price, though it's clearly not a luxury stay. We were five guys in our twenties from Germany and spent a week there in August. The location was fine: right by the beach, near a few bars and the harbour, where there are a supermarket, kiosk, taverns, and ATV and scooter rentals. The 15-minute walk or hike to the clubs in the chora left us sweaty and exhausted. The owner and his wife, I suppose, were very friendly and willing to help. Our room had AC, though it wasn't advertised online. The kitchen wasn't ready when we arrived, but they could provide a portable stove and what we needed to cook if asked. The shower was small, but we didn't mind. We could play music fairly loud on the terrace until 10-11 PM, then we'd head out anyway. Once, a really rude neighbour came over and insulted us. As long as you behave, you shouldn't have problems.

We enjoyed our stay a lot. The rooms were decent, and it's very close to one of the nicest beaches on Ios, making it a good spot for a relaxing holiday. Service seemed a little inconsistent between rooms, but nothing caused us a significant problem.

We paid 190 per night for a room meant for three people, but she put three extra beds in it for our group of six. That was illegal, as I understand it. The room was too expensive for the comfort it offered. We didn't have enough toilet paper or any shampoo, and after two days there still weren't clean towels. We also saw ants and small cockroaches by the door inside the room. I hope someone planning a holiday sees this and can save their money.

The people were very kind. The room was okay, nothing special, and could use some improvement. They should also do something about the bugs, which seem to come from the grass beside the windows.
