The quiet setting was beautiful, though a bit far from the centre of Kalamki. With little ones, hiring a car was the right call. We were upgraded to a lovely room with a hot tub, but it didn’t have the cooking facilities I’d really wanted. Breakfast was generous, with lots to choose from and some good local flavours. The restaurant food tasted nice, but prices, especially for dinner, were higher than elsewhere, and I think that sent many guests to eat out. If prices matched other places, more people might eat and drink at the hotel. The hotel itself was clean. The pool was clean too, and most staff seemed friendly, though they sometimes came across as having something on their minds. There were cats around, but telling them no usually worked. My children secretly fed them anyway. Tap water isn’t drinkable, so you need to buy bottled water. Most people went to the local supermarket for it because it was cheaper than the bar. We bought big bottles and refilled them at breakfast. It would be a nice welcome touch to have a few bottles waiting in the room.

The main disappointment was the room arrangement on arrival. We were told our room wasn’t ready because someone had fallen in it, and spent the first night in a basic room across from the hotel. That alone would have been fine, but two other guests told us they’d heard exactly the same explanation. I wish the staff had just been honest, as we wouldn’t have minded. The hotel is otherwise a lovely, quiet place. Our room was very dated but functional and extremely clean, with daily cleaning. The pool and bar area was great for relaxing, and breakfast was fantastic with a big selection. Staff were very friendly and helpful. You’ll need a hire car to see the rest of the island. It’s a 25 minute walk to the main strip, along roads that feel very sketchy, especially after dark. The cats will leave you alone if you ignore or shoo them. Some guests fed them, though, and then they jumped onto tables and stole food, which bothered other people. We didn’t have a problem ourselves.

The hotel had a lovely, homey feel, with calm music around the pool and excellent food and drinks at good prices. We spent eight days there and had a great time. The staff were so friendly and helpful, always ready to answer questions with a smile. Iris and Daphne

The villa style building is full of lovely details, with pale stone and white walls, and everything is beautifully kept. It’s well placed for Zante, Kalamaki, and Argassi, with beautiful beaches only a few minutes away. Our suite was incredible, with a Jacuzzi right in the room for a modern touch. Breakfast was served by the pool, with fresh Greek products each day, all homemade and prepared with care. The staff were kind and attentive to what guests needed. A beautiful place with amazing people, strongly recommended.

The garden was our favorite spot, with swallows, common garden birds, and the occasional reptile to watch. Young birds were hatching during our stay, and it was lovely seeing them grow while their parents taught them to fly. There were plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas by the pool as well. We stayed in the first two weeks of May, when the hotel was very quiet, with only four other couples there. The apartments are very tired and badly need updating, but they’re spotless and cleaned every day. All the staff were friendly and happy to help. Breakfast was included, plentiful, and nice, though a bit repetitive. Evening meals were nice but very pricey. Cats in the dining area were a nuisance, climbing on tables and trying to take food from plates. Staff dealt with them. Kalamaki is just over a mile away, with plenty of bars and restaurants. The food around town felt a bit samey, though the places we tried were nice. Dafni’s restaurant and Milos were among our favorites. The daylight walk is fine, but it feels scary at night: there are no footpaths or streetlights, and a couple of blind bends are dangerous. A taxi costs eight euros for the mile, which is expensive, though food, drinks, and pretty much everything else felt expensive too. Supermarket Christos is a five minute walk away and was great. If they didn’t have something out, you could ask and they’d find it somewhere. Bake & coffees was a good spot for a quick snack or beer. We had a really nice stay, and the Greek people were wonderful, friendly, and helpful.
