Kalamaki Beach Hotel - Zakynthos Island

For a one-night stop, the small room was manageable and did its job. It could be uncomfortable for a longer stay or if you have lots of luggage. The hotel is very close to the airport, which made getting there convenient. You can hear planes taking off, but I found the noise surprisingly easy to tune out. Overall, a decent and convenient choice for a quick overnight stay near the airport.

The beach is right nearby and it’s sandy, which was great. We also liked how peaceful the pool area was, with no music or entertainment. Everything was super clean, and the staff were really nice. Sofia at reception was especially warm and welcoming. Breakfast had loads of choice. I’d give this hotel four stars instead of three. The only letdown was the very hard mattress.

The hotel is clean, and the staff were lovely overall. The receptionist was helpful, the heated pool was excellent, and there’s a smaller pool for children, though it’s quite deep for them. The pool bar was great, as was the one by the beach. The rooms aren’t especially large, but they’re modern, with a decent bathroom and balcony. The extra costs really added up. On arrival we were told the climate charge is now €5 instead of €3 per night, then air conditioning was another €8 nightly and the safe cost €3 per night. For ten nights, that came to €160 in added charges. The sunbeds and parasols on the hotel grounds cost another €15 a day, bringing the extra total to €310. I expected the room booking to include use of what the hotel provides. Paying €20 for beach sunbeds seems normal and acceptable, though. It’s a shame about the charges, because the hotel itself is nice and well located.

We had a room with a balcony looking out over the hills, and it was lovely. The pool bar was a great place to spend the day, with brilliant staff and food. The hotel was spotless, with cleaners coming into the room every day. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful.
