Merlis Studios

The garden is lovely and well cared for, and guests can use the clean, well-maintained pool. I stayed at Merlis Studio in Zakynthos for a week. The owners were welcoming and kind, and the rooms were clean. Linen and towels are changed weekly. There was evening noise from the hotel behind, which could bother you if you want quiet nights. The mattresses were quite uncomfortable and could be a serious problem for anyone with back issues. Air conditioning costs an extra €9 per day, and you can rent a safe for €10 a week. For what you get, I thought the price and quality were reasonably matched.

The owners really made the place for me. They were kind, always ready to help, and their car rental company had fairly good prices compared with other providers. The garden is beautiful, and the room was clean and nice. There's a generous pool with a bar, and the beach is a 4-5 minute walk away. Lots of taverns are nearby too, with very good food at very good prices. A unique stay.

We only stayed one night because our villa checkout didn't line up with our flight. It's a basic, budget-friendly option. The studio interiors are low quality, but there's a nice outdoor pool and bar area. Parking is available, and the airport is very close. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We spent three weeks at Merlis Studios in June / July 2023 and loved it. The studios were clean, private, and in a really nice spot. The owner was very kind and helped us with an affordable car rental, taxis, and whatever else we needed. He also has a nice shop with local fashion and products right next door. Rooms were cleaned daily, and the service was great for a reasonable price. Kalamaki village is peaceful, and the beach is beautiful, with sunbeds as well as a more private stretch at the end. There's a supermarket right beside the studios, and plenty of restaurants just a few metres away. We had a great time at Antonis pool bar too, where you can enjoy drinks and use the pool and sunbeds for free. They also have entertainment every night. I'd definitely come back.
