Rock in the Yard in Kalampaka

We booked on booking.com in June 2025 for one night in September. On the morning of our stay, while we were on the bus to Meteora, the owner cancelled and messaged us through booking.com about another hotel 1.5km away, saying they'd honour the same price. We asked our tour bus to reroute us there so we could try to book, but that hotel said it hadn't spoken to this hotel manager and knew nothing about the arrangement. The manager eventually called and took us to another lower hotel. He then said he actually had a booking for a two-night stay. It seemed obvious to us that he'd cancelled our booking to make room for someone staying two nights for more money.

After a couple of days in Athens, this felt like a real breath of fresh air. Highly recommend it if you want to experience Greece.

It's a family-run hotel, owned and operated by the family, and the hospitality was incredibly warm. The owner patiently spent a lot of time sharing local recommendations for places and experiences we wouldn't have found ourselves. Breakfast was excellent. I'd recommend the hotel to friends travelling to the area.

Our triple room had a great layout and style, and the bathroom was great too. The view was amazing, and breakfast was very, very good. We had a great stay and would definitely come back.
