Varias Art House

It’s so quiet and surrounded by beautiful nature, with stars everywhere at night. I’ve never seen so many at once, it felt magical. The hosts are warm and attentive, and they’re talented musicians too. If you’re lucky, you might catch them playing live one evening, the kind of night that stays with you. The house itself feels like a real home, but also like an art gallery. The hosts’ hand-painted work is all around, on the walls, furniture and little details. Everything was spotless and thoughtfully arranged, with so much heart. A wonderful place to relax, recharge and feel inspired. 100% recommended!

We booked ten days at Varias Art House but left after eight because the stay was so uncomfortable. The house smelled strongly of age and mustiness from the start, and ants were everywhere, including the kitchen and bedrooms. Sound carried throughout the house. We could hear everything between the upstairs bedroom and downstairs, the stairs creaked constantly, the doors were noisy, and even the host talking could be heard through the walls. There was no cleaning service during our stay, so we cleaned, washed our towels and changed the sheets ourselves. The sheets weren’t ironed either. The host’s sons practiced the same tune over and over for most of the day, stopping around 22:30 only after we asked. The worst moment came when we sat outside on the upstairs deck for one evening. The host came out and aggressively screamed offensive words at us, which we can’t repeat here due to Google Maps policies. After that, the atmosphere felt completely unwelcoming. Nobody asked why we were leaving or said goodbye when we left. It was one of the worst vacation rentals we’ve experienced, and we cut the trip short by two days because staying longer just wasn’t worth it. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing or respectful vacation.

The house and the views were stunning and incredibly picturesque, and every part of the place felt like art. We stayed for a week with our kids and wished we could have stayed longer. It was clean, practical and had everything we needed, but the special part was the warm welcome from Dimitri and Eleni, the hosts, and sometimes their grownup children too. The beautiful pond, the swing, the smell of basilico and mint, the quiet, the sunsets and the Milky Way views all made it such a wholesome experience. Thank you for hosting us. We hope to come back!

We’ll remember stepping into the lovely garden each morning to look out at the sea, then watching the sunset with guitar music from the hosts. We also enjoyed walking down to the village of Kallirachi. The hosts created art you can admire inside and out, and were kind and accommodating. We were there for a couple of beautiful days. The house is spacious, clean and well equipped. The road up to the villa has a steep, narrow stretch at the beginning. It can feel intimidating at first, but there’s actually nothing to worry about.
