Kounenos Apartments

The owner was very kind and even gave us some oil he had made. We had a very good stay at Kounenos Apartments with the family, in a simply decorated maisonette over two levels. The terrace overlooking Istron bay was lovely, and the children had fun in the shared pool. They also offered free sunbeds at Voulisma beach, set on grass under vine trees rather than on the sand.

We spent 6 wonderful days here. The views were gorgeous, the staff very friendly and accommodating, and the pool was amazing. Most of the time we had it to ourselves. Beaches, supermarkets, and restaurants are nearby, and parking is free. We'd love to come back, and definitely recommend the place. Thanks!

The view, pool, and parking were definitely good points, and the rooms were large enough. But we had issues with the basics. On 2 of our 7 nights, there was no hot water in the evening or morning. On the other mornings it still wasn't properly hot, possibly because the solar water tank wasn't large enough for 4 persons. The electricity in one bedroom was a mess: the wall plugs switched off with the light, or couldn't charge 2 mobiles at once. Our bathroom had no soap, although other apartments did, and there was paper waste on the floor when we arrived. The road to the apartment is very dangerous. At the exit onto the main road it feels life-threatening, and turning left also goes against traffic rules.

Really good value. The hillside setting among olive trees gives you lovely views along the coast, and the pool area has grass and shade. It's quiet apart from the cicadas, and the staff are very friendly. The rooms have a kitchenette and coffee maker. Getting to the nearest restaurants means a fairly long walk, with an uphill climb on the way back. A few small repairs are needed, like fixing a loose cabinet door, and I found the beds hard, though that's personal.
