We chose self-catering since we love hiking and exploring and were out most of the day. Cleanliness is clearly a priority here. The owners and staff go above and beyond, and it's a friendly, family-run hotel. The bar prices are reasonable too. Highly recommend, 5/5.

It's an older place, but full of charm. The owners are wonderful and pay close attention to what guests need and to the little details. With its relaxing views and atmosphere, it was a perfect place to settle in and head out exploring from.

The rooms are dated and basic, but they're spacious and comfortable. We had amazing views, and the location is handy for good restaurants and the bus stop. Service was excellent, as were the breakfast and the meal we had. Tarsis went above and beyond.

The staff were so friendly and accommodating. At check-in, the receptionist explained the area, and the map and bus timetable they gave us made getting around much easier. They even let us keep our room for a few extra hours on our last day because our flight was later. We could visit the beach once more, come back, shower and get ready without worrying about our luggage. I've never had a hotel offer that before. The location looked like a long trek on the map, but the beach was only a 10-minute walk. Views are gorgeous from around the hotel, whether you're looking down at Kamari, the beach and sea, or up at the huge surrounding rocks. You can also see the zig-zag road to Ancient Thera, and from what I saw, most balconies get a sunrise view. One of the best stays we've had in years. Everything was fantastic, and if we return to this wonderful island, I don't see the point in trying another place. Aegean View Hotel is already perfect.

We'd happily return. The town has a nice atmosphere without being too busy, unlike the chaos in Oia and Fira, which are very, very busy. The apartment was spacious and clean, with air conditioning at no extra cost and free Wi-Fi. There was no washing-up liquid, but the cleaners take care of that for you, bless them. A chopping board and toaster would be handy additions. The pool area was lovely, and everyone was very friendly, especially our lovely barman and the cleaners. The receptionist, who I believe is the owner, was incredibly helpful with advice on places to visit, bus services and what to avoid.
