Dilino Hotel

Our room smelled strongly of mold, and there was no way to get fresh air in. The hotel seemed to be covering it with new paint, but the smell and mold were still there. The room had dirty walls, stains on the pillows and sheets, a dirty bathroom floor, and bits of seashell on the floor. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned. We asked for a different room, but that one smelled the same. We decided to leave, but the owner wouldn’t accept a cancellation, so we lost the money we’d paid. He was arrogant and wouldn’t communicate or answer the phone. The only other person we could speak with was the man painting the rooms. He tried to help, but nothing came of it. Stay away from this hotel.

The location is incredible and the price is very good for a no-frills hotel. We stayed five nights. When we arrived, we called the number on the wall and Nikos came over within seconds to carry our bags to a small outdoor check-in spot with a patio table and chairs. He was very friendly, and about five minutes later he showed us to the room. It was basic, as expected, but tidy and clean, and everything worked. The air conditioning was superb. If you like animals, there was also a very friendly cat who came by most days and loved a fuss. We’d happily stay again.

The room was very basic and wasn’t clean when we arrived, so we had to ask for it to be cleaned. The clean sheets they brought were stained already. The owner doesn’t speak any English. After checkout there wasn’t a room or anywhere for us to shower, so we had to book another hotel. It was very poor, I’d never come back and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

You’re right by the beach, which is beautiful and has an incredible view. There are cute restaurants and shops all around, supermarkets are open all the time, and the bus stop to Thera is just a couple of seconds away. The location is fantastic. The rooms and balconies are cute and full of character, and the flower-filled patio is beautiful, great for Instagram pics. The staff were friendly, accommodating and very professional, and tried hard to keep guests happy. The receptionist was wonderful. She shared tips and recommendations, told us about Santorini’s culture, and was so easy to have a long conversation with, almost like a friend. I loved my stay and would recommend it to anyone. Enjoy!
