Angelos Studios

We loved having breakfast on the balcony, looking out to sea and hearing the occasional animals in this otherwise quiet rural spot. The building is up a hill, so bear that in mind if walking is difficult, but it’s just minutes from a regular bus and Vromlominos beach, which we think is the best on Skiathos. There’s a pool on site too, with nice loungers and canopies. This was our first stay at Angelos Studios, for seven days from 12th June 2024. Our third-floor room had a sea view and balcony. It was basic, but suited us fine. George and his wife, Christa I think, were friendly and easy to approach. If anyone else was disappointed with their room, we weren’t. The location was convenient for the beach and bus, and the staff tried to help when we raised the problem. At first, though, the room looked nothing like the online photos. We showed them our booking and the pictures and were told that the room shown wasn't available that night, but we could move into it the next day. We did switch, and the replacement was better, but still didn't feel worth the price. Even that nicer room looked smaller than it had online, and the attractive four-poster beach beds by the pool shown in the listing weren't there. A lot of things looked different.

The pool area is a lovely place to relax, and having a pool here is a real plus for the price compared with nearby places. The beach is a few minutes away on foot, and bus 13, about a five-minute walk, goes to Skiathos Port. There’s a good restaurant nearby, plus a couple more I noticed but didn’t try. I’d read some worrying reviews before we came, but we had a great stay for a few nights. The bathroom was fairly spacious, the room had nice furniture, and the kitchenette was enough for simple meals. I thought some earlier complaints were unfair given the cost. A great place to stay in Skiathos.

The pool is amazing, with plenty of sunbeds, and there’s good food and drinks available in a calm, pleasant setting. We had a car to explore further, but the location also works well for walking or taking the bus to beaches and tavernas. If you can pull yourself away from the beach, the pool is a lovely alternative. George, Christa and the family clearly love their island and Angelo’s, and want guests to care for it too. Yamas to Christa’s father! He and George’s father can be seen looking after the animals and garden on the property. Even the eggs at breakfast are fresh from their chickens. The rooms looked just like the website photos. There was hot water all the time, and the showers were great with no time limit. From the start, George, Christa and the family were there to help and point us toward places to go. A hidden gem!
