Kris Mari

The pool snack bar serves tasty food, and the pool is cleaned every day. The hotel is old, but kept clean, and the staff are all helpful and friendly. Its location is great, close to the beach and only a five-minute stroll from the village. My partner Alex and I have just come back from another fabulous stay at the Kris Mari Hotel in Kardamaina. We’ve been several times, twice this year, and have enjoyed every visit. Special thanks to Rena and Minas at reception and Liza at the evening bar for their superb service.

Banana beach bar is only about a five-minute walk away, and the beach there was peaceful and surprisingly lovely. The hotel staff were cheerful and kind every time I saw them, and doing the check-in online before the trip was handy. My room, though, was very dated: the furniture wobbled, the bed was hard, and the bathroom door squeaked badly. Noise carried through the halls, and I could hear other guests coughing and sleeping; the balcony door did nothing to block it, so I slept poorly all week. The shower curtain covered only one side, leaving the toilet and paper soaked. Air conditioning and the safe cost extra, though I didn't use either.

We'd stay again, but we'd ask for an upper floor next time. Our ground-floor room was very noisy, with conversations, footsteps, pool games and staff walkie-talkies all audible early in the morning. The bathroom smelled bad at first, but reception fixed it after we mentioned it. We had to ask for fresh towels on day four. Breakfast was basic but fine, and the location was lovely.

The rooms and location were alright, but breakfast was awful. It was just a few cold items, including boiled eggs, and the same single kind of salami and cheese each day. Some people even brought their own food. I've never had such a bad hotel breakfast before.
