After two weeks touring Athens and the islands, this family run hotel was exactly what we needed. We had waterfront rooms with great harbour views, and breakfast was lovely, with produce and cheeses from Reggie’s nearby farm. Reggie, his wife Koula and daughter Maria gave us the warm Greek hospitality we’d hoped for, and more. The hotel is beside a sandy beach and beach bar, and right by restaurants and nightlife. There’s a coffee bar inside and an outdoor bar serving delicious drinks. You can even step out and take a fun horse drawn carriage ride through the cute town of Karystos. We’ll be back often!

I’ve already stayed here twice and will return. The hotel is right in front of the port, with an excellent sea view. It’s very clean, with nice recently renovated rooms and an excellent Greek breakfast. The biggest strength, though, is the very friendly and polite atmosphere among the staff.

The Galaxy has that rustic, old world feel that adds to staying in town, since new hotels can’t be built in this area. I stayed here as a base for a guided group trip, and the setting is gorgeous, with either breathtaking sea views or jaw dropping mountain views. The staff are extremely lovely and helpful, friendly, funny and English speaking. Breakfast is delicious and farm fresh, and the bar has cold drinks and Ouzo. If I get the chance to return to Karystos, I know where I’ll stay.

The hospitality at Galaxy is so good, you feel like an MVP without paying extra for that kind of service. For value for money, there’s no better hotel. Probably the best place to stay in Karystos, especially for families.

It’s a well run two star hotel, and I’ve never had a friendlier welcome on holiday. The owners, their family and the staff all help wherever they can.
