Pegasus Hotel

You can see the sea from many rooms and the outdoor restaurant. There are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas around the nice pool. Takis, the manager, is a friendly soul, and his staff help give the hotel a superb feel. It’s no luxury resort, but the upkeep, food and service are top notch. The surroundings are calm, with wine and olive groves in the hills behind the hotel, and the beach is a short walk away. Awesome place.

A great choice for the price. The staff are extremely kind, and we had a nice view from the balcony. There’s a long beach just a five-minute walk away.

We loved spending the evenings on the balcony in our garden-view room. Since the hotel is on a hill, it gets a little chilly in the evenings, which made them especially pleasant. Breakfast was generous, with a touch of Cretan hospitality, and the pool was warm and great for kids. The staff were warm and helpful too.

This was my second summer at the Pegasus, and both stays have been great. It’s outside Xania, but a public bus runs back and forth all day for about 1.70 euros. That made it easy to visit the wonderful city while staying away from the tourist crowds. The Pegasus is also a few kilometres from Falasarna and Balos, so it works well as a base for the main sights while still offering some peace and quiet. My favourite things were the little terrace in my room and the buffet breakfast, with lots of Greek homemade food prepared by kind Navsika. The rooms are comfortable and perfectly adequate, with air conditioning, though I didn’t need it at night despite the intense heat. If you can choose, the downstairs rooms are cooler. The staff were kind and eager to please. There’s a convenience supermarket with food and beach items at the hotel. Nearby, Oi Katsaroles is a great place to eat, with lovely views and even better food. The hotel also has a pool and cafeteria for a drink, sandwich or salad. A quiet, decent beach is a few minutes away. You can walk to Theodorakis' tombstone, or take the bus to a nearby Monastery that visitors can see and that has a collection of icons.
