Family Bikakis

Bikakis was a great base for exploring the beautiful west of Crete, and the price felt fair. Our room was cozy and very clean, with a balcony that had a pretty good view. The owner was consistently kind to us. The hotel is close to the centre of Kissamos, where we enjoyed relaxing walks at night. Great value for the money, and highly recommended.

Our host Yannis was really friendly and helpful, and the balcony had a great view. We spent 5 days at Bikakis in a comfortable room and had nothing to complain about. Great value and a great place. 10/10.

The location was fine, close to the centre of Kissamos. We were moved to a better room than the one we’d booked because it was available, though it was still on the small side. It had what we needed, but we found a dead cockroach under the bin. Air conditioning costs extra, and the nights get so hot that sleeping without it is difficult.

The way the owner treated us made this a really unpleasant stay. At first I thought it might be a language barrier, but by the end I felt it was just his manner. When we arrived to check in, he asked what we were waiting for, then made us wait 15 minutes before saying there were no rooms free and we should come back later. He said it rudely. Checkout was worse. He couldn’t find our Booking reservation and, even though I’d paid through the app, handed me the POS to pay again. When I said I had already paid, he yelled that it was impossible and treated us as if we were thieves trying to avoid the bill. I showed him the receipt, bank statement and everything needed to confirm payment. We were there for around 45 minutes. He called Booking, and between calls kept shouting at us and blaming us for booking through them. It was very impolite and rude, and not what I’d expect in Greece. His brother, on the other hand, was kind, always smiling and willing to help. I wish the brother were running the hotel instead. I have nothing nice to say about the man handling reservations, who seemed to be the boss. We understand that problems happen, but customers shouldn’t be treated this way.
