We stayed in the studio, which seemed like a great fit for a solo traveler or couple. It has two comfortable beds, a decent sized wardrobe, a fully equipped kitchen, a small table, and a bathroom with a washing machine and a huge shower. On arrival there was raki, sweets, fresh fruit, water, and breakfast basics like rusks, biscuits, and jam. Breakfast isn’t listed as included on Booking.com, but we effectively had it. There are toiletries, spare linens and towels, beach towels, and cleaning supplies as well. The studio stays cool and breezy, so we only ran the air conditioning for 10-15 minutes in the evening. Its large private terrace has motorized awnings for shade during the hottest hours, and the place sits beside a larger house in a fragrant garden full of flowers, with a vegetable patch where you can pick fresh tomatoes. The setting is quiet, but taverns, shops, and supermarkets are within walking distance. The sea is around a 10-minute walk away, or a couple of minutes by car. Kissamos is a convenient base for beaches such as Falasarna, Elafonisi, and Balos. The hosts made the stay especially lovely. Maria owns the property and lives in Chania. We didn’t meet her, but she sent us sweets a couple of times. George and Rula, Maria’s sister, live across from the property. George was kind and helpful, and although his English isn’t very strong, he found ways to communicate and help with whatever we needed. Rula speaks English quite well and made us feel at home and thoroughly cared for. She cooked delicious traditional pies with so much kindness, while still giving us space. Their daughter Marili speaks excellent English and helped with communication, restaurant and sightseeing tips, routes, and things to avoid. She was hospitable and helpful, and stayed available beyond check-in, supporting us throughout the holiday. These kind hosts won our hearts. We recommend the property highly.
