Lemos Hotel

The manager I’d spoken with by phone never stepped in, even after I explained what was happening. In front of us, the receptionist also called someone else and described us as “impostors.” It was humiliating and completely unprofessional. We’d been looking forward to the stay, but things went wrong as soon as we arrived. We had booked a suite for €100 a night, a price that had already been confirmed by phone. The receptionist said coldly that this price was wrong because there were two of us. When I asked politely whether we could stay for one night instead of two, she simply refused to discuss it. I asked several times for her to call the manager, but she wouldn’t. She demanded our passports, which we handed over out of respect even though we knew it wasn’t legally required. Later, she used them to pressure us to book both nights. It felt like blackmail. Her comments were the most upsetting part. She called us liars, said we were “typical Greeks,” and told us, “If you were foreigners, you would have behaved better.” I was shocked. I’m Greek but live in France, and spoke English because I’m not fluent in Greek. She took that as some kind of trick, which was insulting and unfair. We’re respectful, well-traveled people and have never been treated this way at a hotel anywhere. What could have been a pleasant stay became a bitter memory because of one staff member who showed none of the hospitality or professionalism this work calls for.
