Hotel Astoria traditional

We spent a comfortable week here. The rooms were clean and had balconies, breakfast was good, and on our last morning they made us a very good takeaway breakfast for the trip. The staff were perfect, both kind and efficient. It's a good hotel for work or visiting town, with easy access around the city and to other places of interest. If we're in Komotini again, we'll stay here.

Right on Komotini's main square, the hotel is a little old-fashioned but nice and clean. The staff were very kind and helpful. Special thanks to Giota, who helped me find a great campsite in another part of Greece and suggested lots of beautiful beaches. A good place for motorbikers. Thanks to everyone.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, always smiling and ready to handle any request. When I asked if they had fresh milk, they even brought some just for me.

Hotel Orpheus feels old and run down, and it is. The bathroom was dated, and wastewater came around my feet when I ran the tap. Paint was badly peeling on the balcony; a quick sweep with a stiff broom would clear the loose bits and make it look better. The air conditioning drain hose also empties across the balcony. I know it has to drain somewhere, but it needs a new hose. The bed was very hard, though I slept okay on it. The bedside lamps didn't work, and the curtain didn't cover the window properly, so I couldn't block out all the light. A spare blanket and pillow in the wardrobe would have been nice, as would a free bottle or two of water. At least the bathroom and bedroom were clean, and the sheets and towels were clean too. The lift was clean and in good condition. Reception staff couldn't have been nicer, always greeting me with a big smile and a hello or good night depending which way I was going. It's right in the center, handy for food and drinks without a long walk or taxi. Would I stay again? Yes, though I'd love to see the place refreshed a little by then.
