The location worked well for walking into Kos town, about 15-20 minutes along a route with lots of bars, restaurants and shops. We had a great week, and for the price, what the hotel offers felt like a really good deal. We’re not sure we’d come back, since we prefer a beachfront hotel and other parts of the island like kardamena, but this one was pretty much faultless and I’d recommend it. We stayed in room 218, a private sunbed and veranda room. We were lucky to get sun from 1pm until sunset, and I’d choose that over a balcony room. We got a very cheap upgrade through tui when we booked. The room was spacious and modern, with a huge walk-in shower and comfortable beds. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the maids did a great job every day, and the free wifi, electronic safe and air conditioning were all excellent. The air conditioning cooled the room quickly. The food was probably the best I’ve had at a hotel, with themed Gala, American, Mexican, Asian, Greek, Italian and Mediterranean nights. Breakfast and dinner were good, and there was also a snack bar outside during dinner if you wanted to stay by the pool. The desserts were 5⭐️ 😋!!! There were plenty of sunbeds until around 9.30-10ish. If you’re an early bird and want to make the most of the sun, you’ll get your pick after breakfast at 7.30. Most guests were British, German or Dutch.

Alona at reception was outstanding. She was full of information, helped us book excursions and was lovely to chat with. Poppy and all the housekeeping, bar and restaurant staff were great too. The staff really are the stars here. The Apollon had a chilled, relaxed feel and seemed almost adults-only during our stay, with just a couple of quiet children. The pool was nice, and although loungers might be harder to find when it’s busier, we always found one. The hotel was tasteful, modern and clean, and kept to a high standard. Our large room had a small terrace overlooking the pool and comfortable beds. I was cold the first night, but got a thicker blanket straight away and slept comfortably the rest of the week. My only small room complaint is the frosted glass bathroom door, which seems common in hotels now. As a picky eater, I found something to eat with the all-inclusive meals, and there was plenty of good-quality food for less picky people. Dinners had themes. There was a lot of pork, though, and even my partner, who likes pork, was tired of it by the end of the week. Some dishes weren’t labelled, so it could be hard to tell what was in them, which may be a problem for people with dietary requirements. The bar was good and I enjoyed the all-inclusive cocktails. There was no evening entertainment, which could be improved. Kos Town is a 15-20 minute walk for things to do day or night. The gym is a typical hotel gym, charged by the hour per person and requiring a reservation. If you want to work out, I’d recommend the better equipped gym two minutes further up the street towards Kos Town. We had an amazing time and I’d absolutely recommend the Apollon to anyone after a high-quality, relaxing stay. I’d happily stay again if I returned to Kos.

I don’t usually write reviews unless it’s a good one, but I felt I had to warn people. We came to the Apollon in the Lambi area of Kos for a youth soccer festival, looking forward to it, but the facilities and the very rude manager quickly made us feel we shouldn’t have come. From the first day, it felt like they were trying to rob us. Our room was mediocre. There was no hot water, and we couldn’t set the AC to heat at night, so the cold made it hard to sleep. We asked for blankets, but they never brought any. Lights throughout the hotel flickered, and we had blackouts. The next day, I asked at the bar for a whiskey and they tried to serve it in a very dirty plastic glass. It made me feel sick just looking at it, and they refused to put it in a glass one. The buffet was mediocre to bad, and popular food like pork chops or pork belly was always insufficient. On the third day, two gin and tonics cost us 36 euros. The part that annoyed me most came on our last day. We checked out at 11 o'clock. The night before, we had asked the manager if we could have lunch because our departure was in the afternoon, and they said, “Of course, no problem.” We went into town and returned around 2 o'clock to eat before our bus arrived. To our surprise, they wanted to charge 10 euros per person. There were only four adults and seven kids left, and only the adults were going to eat. When we reminded them what they’d told us, the manager called it a misunderstanding and said the 10 euros per person was a good offer. It made us feel that money was the issue. The whole time, it felt as if they wanted us to leave because we were there with kids for the youth soccer festival. I try to look at things optimistically and thought it was okay as long as the kids had a good time. Dear manager Mr. Stelios, I assure you money was the last thing I cared about. I’ll never come back, and I’ll remember Kos as a bad experience. You’re the reason something mediocre stays mediocre. Thanks for making Kos a place I’ll never visit again, and for reminding me that small things make the difference.

The staff were really kind, especially Ryan and Dimitri. The hotel was amazing, the food was great, the drinks were the best, and the pool was fun.
