Captain's Hotel

I liked where the hotel is, and it was easy to find while biking around. The bathroom was okay and the AC worked fine, but breakfast was the same few items all week and got a bit boring. The room was tiny, old-looking, and awkwardly laid out. They’d squeezed in extra chairs and an unnecessary makeup table, but its mirror was so low it wasn’t usable. The fridge was microscopic, with no safety walls inside, so things slipped out easily and bottles fell out twice. You couldn’t leave anything on the bedroom table and still open the closet door, since it would all fall onto the floor. The TV was microscopic too.

Women manage and run the whole place. The staff are friendly, the breakfast is good, the rooms are clean, and there’s a nice pool. It’s a very good city hotel for the money, close to the city centre and the seaside, with plenty of supermarkets and restaurants nearby.

The people working here really made our stay. Everyone was so kind and ready to help, always with a smile, and the reception stays open all night. The room was cleaned every day, and breakfast was simple but good. The rooms themselves feel very dated and could use some care. Also, the pool is shared with the hotel next door, where a lot of partying young people seemed keen to take it over. Thanks to the team for being so lovely.

The town center and beach are both about 10 minutes away, so the location works well and most things are close by. The beds are really hard, though. You get what you pay for.
