Casa Verde Houses

The playground was a real concern: the equipment was broken and didn't seem safe for children. There was also an abandoned car full of rubbish in the parking lot. Maybe it was meant to be art, but it was still full of rubbish. Inside, the flat had the usual Airbnb-style decor, with lots of empty vases and olive tree pictures. The kitchen was tiny and poorly equipped, with no oven or the basic things needed to make a proper meal. The bathroom was old and cramped. We booked a room for ourselves and our young daughter a few weeks before the trip. It wasn't our first choice, but it was a reasonable distance from our friends on the island of Kos. We knew from the start not to expect five-star accommodation, but we didn't expect what happened next. On our last day we had friends over for pasta, the only meal we could make there. The owner complained that we had guests and said we were having a party. She called me, and I was taken aback by her tone and accusation. I explained there was no music or alcohol, since we have young children, and that we were all inside because of the extreme heat. I also assured her our friends would move their cars, we'd finish lunch, and then leave. She still contacted Airbnb support and filed a complaint. No neighbours had complained. We disputed it, and Airbnb support told us not to worry about anything extra. Our friends felt awful and even apologized on her behalf. They said locals aren't hostile and were surprised by this sort of behaviour and claim. I asked the owner to stay away from my family, and we left the next day. If you're traveling with family, be wary of what you're led to expect. The appearance can be misleading. I'd go elsewhere, and save your money and energy.

Casa Verde is in a lovely spot, with a beautiful garden all around it, and the town center and harbour are about a 15-minute drive away. The house was just right for a couple. We loved staying here, especially because the host and her whole family were so lovely and helpful in all sorts of ways.

Kos city is still only five minutes away by scooter, but the setting itself is peaceful, super clean and fantastic. Riky and her mother made everything so easy. Highly recommended!

Water pressure sometimes drops during the day, though that's a wider issue in the area. Otherwise, the place is quiet thanks to its location, and the enclosed plot feels safe. The room is laid out nicely, with the living room and kitchen downstairs and a bed upstairs, reached by an internal staircase.
