The staff are friendly and helpful, and the owner and manager is around almost every day. On the Friday evening party he even sings and dances a little. There are small things that could use fixing, like a loose light switch wobbling in the wall and a slightly damaged clothes dryer, but that’s just Greece. This is a small, calm hotel, a little above the Greek three-star standard. Everything was clean and working reasonably well, and the rooms were cleaned daily. The food wasn’t a treat, but it was fresh and different each day. Compared with reviews from previous years, WiFi was available everywhere, I think even on the beach, and room air conditioning was free this year. We liked the beach, with sunbeds on the sand and in natural shade on the grass under the pine trees. We didn’t try the pool, beach bar, or massage service, though other guests enjoyed them. The north coast of Kos can be windy, with waves up to 1m some days. The wind takes the edge off the heat and keeps insects away, even from the rooms, which have insect screens anyway. Since every room is a double, you’re unlikely to run into families with small children here. The nearest shop is 2 km away. A bus to Kos town stops just outside the hotel about every 45 minutes. Bottled drinking water is quite expensive at the hotel, so a small shopping trip is worthwhile.

Sleep was the main problem for us. Doors slammed every day, people talked in the corridors, and we could hear the neighboring air conditioning switching on and off. Better sound insulation could make a big difference. The beach also needed some attention. There were bits of trees all over the sand, so we only went there once. With all the rocks, it was impossible to get into the water without shoes. Maybe the owner could sell beach shoes. There was plenty to enjoy as well. The staff were young, hardworking, friendly, and always ready to help, from reception and breakfast to the beach bar. They kept smiling too. Friday’s Greek night with music and traditional dancing was an amazing experience. The pool was in great condition, quiet, and perfect for swimming all day. Food was good overall. At breakfast, plant-based milk would be more inclusive, and the coffee machine definitely needs replacing, but otherwise it was acceptable. The hotel has a lot going for it already, and with a few small improvements it could be perfect. I used to work in hotels and would be happy to share some tips.

We spent seven days at Costa Angela resort in August. The bus stop is right outside, and reception can give you the schedule, though there’s no shade and the bus is always late. The parking lot is spacious, with plenty of room for rental cars. The setting is quiet, with no noise after 11 PM apart from the loud thud of doors opening and closing, especially when there’s a draft. The hotel has its own beach just outside, other hotels are far enough away not to disturb you, and there’s a nice promenade along the shore. The pool is spotless and the area is lovely, with grape vines and palm trees giving plenty of shade and lots of sunbeds. The Beach Bar, or Restaurant, is great for lunch, with enough on the menu to eat there every day, though it isn’t included in the hotel price. Breakfast was one of the best buffets we’ve had, with eggs, an omelette and sausages station, cold cuts, fruit, jams, coffee, juices, and bread. There are plenty of tables inside and outside the hall. Staff were friendly, helpful, and always around. Every Saturday they have a Greek Night with live music, dancing, and a buffet for 17 euros, all you can eat. The music wasn’t loud and didn’t go on all night. It was very night. The biggest problem was WiFi: internet only worked in the lobby, and this wasn’t temporary, so be ready to rely on mobile data. Our bathroom was tiny, with the toilet squeezed between the shower and wall and barely room to fit. The shower enclosure wasn’t in good shape, and we had to wash with our slippers on. The cleaning ladies were nice and always greeted us, but the only changes we noticed were fresh towels and toilet paper, with no other cleaning or dusting. Water was lukewarm at best, making it hard to wake up with a cold wash in the morning. Air conditioning cost extra per night, and you need it unless you’re in room 229, the corner room that doesn’t face the sun. Beach sunbeds cost 2.5 euros a day. That’s not too bad, but since the resort owns the beach, you might expect them to be included.

We chose it for the private beachside setting and because Kos town is nearby, with buses running every 15-25mins. The hotel was superb, with excellent rooms and sunset views. Food was superb too, whether at the gorgeous beach taverna or the hotel restaurant. I can’t praise the staff enough. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and made us feel like family. Highly recommended.
