The room itself was nice and the pool was stunning, but the rest of the stay often fell short. We asked three times for decaf coffee to be brought to our room, and each time staff said they’d send it, but it never came. Late one night we needed more toilet paper and were told to unroll some from the reception toilet. Hardly what you’d expect from a five-star place. The front desk staff could also be abrupt, to the point of rudeness. We came to Greece hoping for a Greek experience, but most of the staff weren’t Greek and the hotel felt so remote that it could have been anywhere. Also, if you pay for a sea view, you do get a room where you can see the sea. For one of the four blocks with a direct view, it seems you have to pay even more. A lot of us got sick during our stay. It could have been something picked up at the airport, but it seems odd that so many people have reported the same thing. The hotel has the raw ingredients to be fabulous, but somehow lets itself down.

This was our second trip to Kos and Michalangelo Resort & Spa, and after a week there we came home feeling we'd had another great stay. It’s a good place to slow down, relax, enjoy the food and take in the view. The infinity pool may be the best I’ve ever seen. It is a bit far from Kos town, though buses stop just outside. I enjoyed every moment. Thanks to the general manager, Katia at reception, and especially Alina at the beach bar. She’s such a lovely person, and my wife and I are grateful we got to know her. We hope to visit again.

The room was really nice, and paying extra for the premium sea view felt worthwhile. It was cleaned daily and we got fresh sheets, but the “do not disturb” sign was ignored. On the days we wanted privacy, we felt rushed to leave while the bed was made. The shower wasn’t sealed properly either, so water kept spreading across the floor and we used lots of towels to mop it up. The phone didn’t work, meaning we couldn’t order room service or call reception. We complained and were told maintenance would come, but nobody did. The TV only had Greek channels, and the subtitles didn’t work, so we couldn’t watch anything at night. There were plenty of nice parts. The bar was great and all inclusive was worth the money. Dinner was tasty each evening, but the bread wasn’t covered during the day. Birds flew around the dining room and landed on it, so we didn’t eat any. The entertainment was a bit disappointing, with some things repeated. I was surprised there wasn’t bingo, since it’s popular at a lot of hotels. We couldn’t use the spa pool because, despite being listed as heated on the website and app, it wasn’t heated. Staff said to go in the steam room first and then use the pool, but that doesn’t make it heated. The outdoor pool was far too cold, so we didn’t swim at all during our ten days. We tried booking tennis through the app, but there was a queue when we got to the court. Reception told us to try another day, so getting a court seems to come down to luck. It’s a nice hotel, but the quality and service didn’t feel like five-star. If you want a quiet, relaxed holiday, it could suit you. The hotel isn’t close to much, and after a few days in KOS town we found it a bit boring, so I’d strongly recommend renting a car. There are no buses to the other side of the island, and taxis are extremely expensive. We were quoted 80 euros for a 30-minute drive, then 80-90 euros for the return.

Friends recommended this place, and we’re already keen to return. The hotel has lovely views from all around, and the staff were so friendly and ready to help. There was lots of buffet choice, and the food and drinks were great. The soya restaurant was lovely too. Our clean, comfortable room was tidied every day.

The rooms are nice and the pool area is good, but I wouldn’t come back. I’ve stayed at many true five-star hotels, and this one compares badly. It doesn’t meet that standard and shouldn’t advertise itself as five-star. Since the hotel is a long way from anything else, I expected the evening entertainment to be a highlight. Instead, it was awful, with depressing, low-quality performances, poor music choices, and singers who seemed like the cheapest acts available on the island. Kos town is about a 15-20 minute drive away. For a hotel claiming to be five-star, you’d expect a free shuttle, but instead they seem to back a local travel company charging around £20 for that short ride. There are no shops nearby either, so the hotel food is the only option if you get hungry late. Don’t count on much: it was just cold soup and fruit left over from earlier in the day. This is nowhere near five-star quality. At best, I’d call it four-star.
