Theodorou Beach Hotel Apartments

The room was roomy and very close to the beach, and the price was low, but the service made this a terrible stay. We came to Kos for two days, and found long strands of hair on every bed. When we told the housekeeper, she yelled at us and got angry, insisting she had just changed the sheets. We were respectful, but she seemed ready to fight. The receptionist brushed it off as her being tired. Later, when we asked again for fresh sheets, we were told the housekeeper had gone and we could change them ourselves. She made the beds the next day, but there was still hair, so either the sheets hadn’t been changed or the replacements were dirty too. The shower head broke while I was using it. Water sprayed from the pipes, and I had to hold my hands over the leak. The hotel must have known it was broken. On our departure morning, we asked reception to call a taxi while we packed. When we came downstairs, we were told taxis might take five minutes or an hour, though our boat left in about 40 minutes. We asked them to call again and explain it was urgent, but the receptionist refused and offered no other help. I know the taxi problem wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but the lack of help throughout our stay made everything worse. It’s near the beach and inexpensive, but the poor service isn’t worth it. Taxis are a real issue, and walking to the city center takes about 40 minutes. I’d strongly advise against staying here.

The room was nice and clean, with a really big bathroom, and the air conditioning was much better than I expected. The cleaners and the desk staff were lovely. Cross the road and you’re straight at the beach, where there’s a very nice beach bar. I’d recommend this hotel and would come back!

The staff were kind throughout our three nights. The man on reception welcomed us late at night and gave clear directions, and the daytime receptionist was just as friendly. She also called a taxi home for us free of charge. Housekeeping came every day, left clean towels arranged in different shapes, and even brought me a sponge for the pots when I’d forgotten to buy one. As we were leaving, they hurried down with my husband’s flip-flops and swim shorts. It was a quiet, clean hotel with easy air conditioning and no nighttime disturbances. Our room had two narrow balconies. The pool was warm, and my 10-year-old felt safe there. We only used it for about 20 minutes on our last day, which was all we needed. We also ate and drank at the hotel’s beach bar each of the three days, and had nothing to complain about. The people there were friendly and matched the pleasant hotel experience. A couple of small things could have been better: we arrived late and there wasn’t tea, coffee, milk, or sugar in the room, so we had to rush to a nearby shop before it closed. The bath plug was missing too. I’m sure they would have provided one if I’d asked, and we would have done if staying longer. The bus stop takes you to Kos town and back if you don’t fancy the 20-minute walk. We tried both, but preferred the bus. Even on a busy route, I’d rather be squeezed in briefly than risk being knocked down by bikes that have priority on the paths. We hope to return. You can also take a ferry from the island to Rhodes and Bodrum. I’d recommend the hotel if you want a relaxing, clean break with kind people.

We’d specifically asked for a sea view, so it was a big letdown to get a “studio” with no view of the water. They wouldn’t move us. The room was dirty, with hair everywhere, a disgusting fridge, and an unclean bathroom. The bed was the hardest I’ve ever slept on. I can’t recommend this hotel.
