Argile Resort

Kefalonia is beautiful, and we still had a lovely holiday, but next time we’ll choose somewhere else. I don’t think this hotel deserves four stars. The whole area had a horrible smell, probably from the sewage system. Our room furnishings were average at best, and the bathroom was so cramped we could barely move. There was mold in the shower and dirt in the drain. We were on the ground floor and didn’t feel secure, since anyone could easily come in through the open window. Without insect screens, mosquitoes and other bugs kept getting inside. The food was okay, although the desserts were very heavy, creamy, buttery, and soaked in sugar syrup. That may just be local cuisine. Cutlery was often dirty, and my partner ended up with a nasty cold sore on his lower lip. There was very little fruit, and the pool drinks tasted like colored sugar water. Bottled water wasn’t part of the all-inclusive package, so we had to buy it ourselves or risk drinking from the pool bar tap, which looked filthy and suspicious.

The staff were all helpful and pleasant, especially the barman at the main bar. I’d stick to the better drinks there. The hotel was clean and well looked after. Food was as expected, although breakfast was the same every day. I’d also recommend the massages from reception, they’re great for the price.

We weren’t sure about taking a holiday here with our one-year-old, but it turned out to be a good decision. The resort was very clean and well maintained, and our room was cleaned perfectly each day. The staff were super nice and helpful, and the team was well organized. Food was prepared very well, and the waitress managed all the people without any trouble. There was everything we needed for our baby. The rooms are equipped for babies, and there are lots of high chairs in the dining room. A lovely beach is a two-minute walk away, with sand that’s something special. Sunbeds cost €20. Older kids can enjoy the small water park too. I highly recommend it for a family stay.

The room stank when we arrived, the pool was green, and the whole place looked neglected. We left within an hour and didn’t stay. At least they agreed to a full refund, which is now in my account.
