The view is lovely, and the private beach has small natural wading pools that work well for little children. The house dates from the 1950s and has been renovated, but the kitchen and bathroom are very small, and there's no microwave in the kitchen. The road down to the villa is very steep, and coming back up is doable in first gear.

We spent nine amazing nights at Charoupi Villa. The place and its surroundings are so beautiful it's hard to describe. There are two bays, or you can make it three, giving a feeling of complete privacy and a chance to soak in paradise. Mr. Chalkiadakis, the owner and host, did everything he could to make us feel welcome and valued. If you're visiting Crete, especially the southeast, this is the place to go. I can't recommend it enough and can't wait to come back for another holiday.
