Anseli Hotel

The food was very good, and lots of people come back year after year. I enjoyed Rhodes and found the people so friendly. I’ll return next year, but not to the anseli. The hotel was immaculately clean, though very dated, which we knew when we booked after reading the reviews. Still, from my own experience, the beds were so hard they felt like concrete, as other guests had mentioned. The shower cubicles in the rooms were tiny, and one person in my family had poor air conditioning. At €7 a night, I think it should work very well. The guests seemed to include a "benidorm" culture of very loud, drunk people staying up until 3:30 am. We raised it with staff on several nights. The bar closes at 1:30 am, but people order many drinks at last orders. The sunbeds were ridiculously hard, and staff allowed people to leave towels on them all day when they weren’t there. A few times we came down as early as we could and found every bed "taken".

We had a wonderful stay and will definitely come back. The family-run hotel made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool area and greenery were well cared for, and there was a nice selection of food and drinks. Our room was clean and comfortable with everything we needed, although it could use an update. It’s a quiet area, with the beach and restaurants under a ten-minute walk away. Getting the bus to Rhodes Town is easy and cheap. The one frustrating thing was sunbed reservations. One morning, almost every bed had a towel on it before 8, and some went unused all day. They could introduce a no-reserving rule.

On my first solo holiday, I had such a lovely time. The family-run hotel was full of kind people, and the staff were always happy to help. The food was excellent, and my room was cleaned with fresh towels every day. It deserves more than a two star rating. I can see why guests come back year after year, and I’m definitely going again. ❤️

We booked a last-minute budget break at the Anseli and, since it’s a two star place, didn’t expect much. It went well beyond what we expected. The spacious apartment had a double bed, dining table, sofa, dressing table, kitchenette, bathroom and a second bedroom with a single bed. Each apartment has its own balcony, and ours looked over the pool. Everyone, staff and fellow guests alike, was so welcoming that it felt like a home from home. Many guests return, and we can see why. The hotel is close to the airport, so planes pass fairly low. After a while we stopped noticing them. I’m a light sleeper, and the only thing that woke me was the unfortunate 6.2 magnitude earthquake. The staff made us feel at home from arrival through the emotional goodbye. Our room was cleaned and given fresh towels daily. Air conditioning costs a little extra, but during the stretch when it got above 30 degrees, it worked perfectly. We had breakfast there every morning and a few evening meals too, and everything tasted delicious. The beach is a short walk away, while Kremasti village, with shops, restaurants, bars and pharmacies, takes 10-15 minutes on foot. Rhodes old town was just a short bus ride, only 3 euros each. We both loved it and are already checking dates to return. :-) Hayley & Olivia
