Poseidon Beach Hotel

The only real plus for us was the beach location. The entertainment was nonexistent, and even the sunbeds on the hotel's own private beach cost extra. The rooms were shockingly bare: no drawers, the sink was in the bedroom, no kettle and no pictures on the walls. Food was awful, bland and barely warm, even though there was a microwave. One or two staff members were cheerful, but most seemed miserable, especially the woman making fresh omelettes. By the pool, we got very thin plastic cups, and the alcohol was so watered down it was rubbish. You also had to pay extra for a kettle, air conditioning, a safe and internet. We couldn't even get a hot drink after 11 o'clock. I know the resort season was nearly over, but it felt like we got the worst of everything: bad rooms, bad service, bad food and bad beer. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

We were outside party season, so there was no noise, and the resort itself was lovely. There were ten of us and we'd booked five rooms. When we arrived, the hotel upgraded three rooms to a villa, which meant we could all spend proper time together. The location was fantastic, the food was great with enough choices for picky eaters, and there was evening entertainment if you wanted it. The hotel and staff were amazing. The location is lovely, right on the beach, and the hotel looks beautiful. But the all-inclusive claim is rubbish. The website says WiFi, air conditioning and a safe are free, then you're told to pay for all three when you arrive. We complained and were told that's just how it is. They also don't mention that the bedroom tax has to be paid in cash. A sunbed set with a table on the beach costs 20 euros a day, even though the beach is part of the hotel. Meal times are only two hours each: breakfast 8-10am, lunch noon-2pm and dinner 7-9pm. Our room cleaning was poor. The floors weren't swept or surfaces wiped, and we only got clean towels. We had one room key, so we always had to hand it to reception for cleaning. We often weren't given a bath mat, even though the shower soaked the floor. Getting one took nearly an hour, leaving little time to get ready and eat before the restaurant closed. There were no hot drinks available in the restaurant in the evening, the machines were removed after breakfast, and there were no kettles in the rooms. Personally, I'd spend my money somewhere else.

The location is the one clear advantage: the beach is less than a minute away, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The food was dull, from grey meat and stale bread to tasteless desserts and sides with no seasoning. Breakfast and lunch seemed almost identical every day, and dinner wasn't much more varied. At the bar, drinks came in small 0.25L plastic cups and tasted like cheap imitation spirits mixed with bad soda. The beer was watery too. Staff seemed irritated, though serving that stuff all day with few breaks would wear anyone down. We couldn't get the two rooms we had booked because their toilets were broken. The room we got was old and cramped, and the €45 discount for three nights felt measly. The rooms we were meant to have were poorly cleaned, with barely working showers, no toilet paper holder and air conditioning that didn't work properly. Staff were helpful enough, but no more than that. I can imagine they're treated badly too, if this is how guests are handled. Stay away.
