Savvas De Mar Hotel

The rooms were mediocre at best, and even with low expectations I was disappointed. I’ve stayed at plenty of lower star party hotels and had a much better time. We paid an extra €50 each for four of us for wifi, air conditioning, and the safe, but there was no WiFi signal in our room. We had to go to reception or the pool to get any connection. The beds were uncomfortable, and the shower flooded. Our downstairs room backed onto a farm, with animals making noise at all hours, and even very drunk, none of us could sleep through it. The maids came only once during our eight night stay. After that visit, €15 cash, a necklace, and other personal things were missing. When we reported it, we were told that happens in every country. The drinks were disgusting, and a regular bartender was a child no older than 9 or 10, pouring vodka Red Bulls for hotel guests. Snacks were a rip off too, €5 for a bag of crisps when Spar, 30 seconds away, had them for €1.20. The reception staff were rude and unhelpful. Right from arrival, the reps also sold us a drinks package for €170-€230 with empty promises, including an eighth wristband day for free. On our last day they said, “I would never say that”. If you like being scammed and treated below human, this trap house is for you.

The pool area was dirty and the sunbeds had lots of odd marks. Our room smelled strange, and the fridge was rotten, unusable, and covered with hundreds of ants. The bathroom smelled odd too and came with nothing. Air conditioning cost us 300 euro in total for our room of six and barely worked. They put very flimsy black plastic chairs on the balcony, then can charge you 30 euro if one breaks while you sit on it normally. The drinks wristband was nice, though, and so was Andy.

I went in June and had a great time. It felt very safe then, though I can't speak for busier periods. Savvas, thanks. The location is great, the staff are nice, the shower was fine, the beds were cleaned regularly, and the pool area was good. It's an easygoing place to stay. The gold wristbands cost 200€, and they're worth it if you'll have more than 6 drinks a day. You can drink from 10am-12pm and save money instead of buying lots of drinks on the strip. Breakfast is a set menu, though, so I wouldn't get it. I just wanted 2 eggs on 2 toast, and they said they couldn't do that, which was disappointing.

The hotel is fairly close to the strip, so it's fine for a few days, but there are definitely better places nearby. We stayed in a room with five beds, all crammed together, with barely enough space for our suitcases or to get ready properly. There were ants in the room, and the pool was so dirty I didn't want to swim. The reps will cost you €180 before your stay. The beds felt like plastic, and I wore Crocs for the whole holiday because of the shower.
