Hersonissos Village Hotel & Bungalows - All inclusive

We’re here right now and having a wonderful vacation. Room 2312 is clean and very quiet, with a lovely sea view. The staff have been extremely friendly. Alex, the administrator, went out of his way to get us checked in before the usual time and has been helpful with all our questions. The food is tasty and varied. We’ve enjoyed the white wine, and the local spirits are great in cocktails. We came for the sea rather than the pool, and the beach is an easy 5-7 minute walk away. It’s a solid 4-star hotel.

Our engagement trip at Hersonissos Village Hotel was supposed to be a dream holiday, but it became one of the most upsetting and disrespectful hotel stays we’ve had. We felt humiliated and as though neither our belongings nor our experience mattered. I’ll always regret choosing this hotel for such an important trip. The cleaner seemed to expect a tip every day. When she didn’t receive one, she ate the chocolates we’d been given for our engagement and left the empty boxes on the table. She also removed the shower curtain for no reason, so the bathroom flooded whenever we showered, and deliberately skipped changing the towels. On our last day, €50 went missing from my girlfriend’s wallet, which was inside a closed bag in our room. We reported it at reception, where they laughed and said, “Why would she steal only 50 euros?” There was no apology or sympathy, and they didn’t seem to care. If you value honesty, respect, and peace of mind, stay somewhere else.

The walk up the hill is steep, and the road into town is busy with very little path, but that’s part of how this place gets its beautiful views. It’s close to everything, and all the facilities were good and kept clean. Our basic room had everything we needed and was spotless. The cleaners did a great job all week, even arranging our pyjamas in lovely patterns on the bed. Breakfast and lunch were the same each day, but the food was still lovely. Dinner had a different theme most nights and was cooked really well. Cocktails in the evening were great, and during the day you could help yourself to wine, ouzo, beer, and coffee. The staff were all so lovely and friendly. Special thanks to the man who took us to our room at 4am and carried our cases, to Dimitri at the bar, who was great fun, and to the restaurant manager with the tie and glasses, who was very nice and helpful. I loved this holiday and would definitely recommend the hotel!

The hill is very steep, so getting to the hotel could be a real struggle for older guests or anyone with a child, even though the view is nice. We booked through an agency and won’t be coming back. There are better options for the same price. The food was disappointing. There was pork, chicken, and sometimes fish or lamb, but it all seemed to have the same spices and taste. Nothing felt Greek or special, just the same dull food at every meal. The cocktails were even worse. They used cheap mint syrup instead of fresh mint, so drinks tasted like cough medicine. The pina colada was the only one I could drink. The bartenders were nice, which was the one good thing here. The rooms are dated, but that wasn’t the main problem. The cleaner seemed to expect a daily tip and took it upon herself to help herself to one. She ate chocolates our friends gave us for our engagement, then left the empty boxes on the table. On the final day about 50 euros were missing from my wallet. The amount isn’t the point, someone had been through our personal things. The shower curtain was also removed for no reason, leaving us to flood the bathroom whenever we showered, and the towel changes were messed up in a way that made things more annoying. When we reported this, the brunette woman at reception didn’t care. She laughed and said, “Why would she steal only 50 euros?” There wasn’t even an apology or a promise to speak to the cleaning lady. The response felt arrogant and disrespectful, and I’m sure this has happened before. The lack of accountability and respect, along with the poor food and drinks, made this a complete disappointment. If you’re happy to have your chocolates eaten and your “tip” taken without permission, this hotel is for you. Otherwise, stay elsewhere.
