Elafonisi House

Marilena has made a wonderful home with so much love. Every detail feels just right. Come here for a stunning view and a peaceful stay.

Nothing seemed to be missing in the house: there were candles, bags, spare light bulbs, cleaning supplies, and even wine left by the owner. The kitchen was well equipped with utensils and basic spices, plus oil and vinegar. The AC is in the bedroom but can cool all the rooms, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom is small, but fine. It’s a comfortable place for anyone who likes solitude. The most beautiful beaches are 20 minutes away.

That evening terrace at sunset felt magical, and despite the house's many shortcomings, that’s part of its charm. Still, the concrete terrace needs finishing, clutter around the house needs to be cleared and cleaned up, the bathroom is ridiculously small, and the toilet is incredibly impractical because you have to empty it with pots of water. The kitchen could use more utensils and needs a proper clean. The house is nice, but too expensive for what it offers.

The view from the pergola covered terrace was breathtaking, and there were sun loungers too. Inside, it’s a small stone house with a fully equipped kitchen, a double bed in the bedroom, and a sofa bed in the main room. We were warmly welcomed in Kissamos when we picked up the keys, had coffee and a chat about nearby good tavernas and beaches, and were given a big bag of provisions. The stay brought real tranquility and a complete change of scenery. Elafonisi is 20 minutes away. After four trips to Crete, this felt like a real gem, with hospitality we highly recommend.
