The private beach at the far end of the bay from Makry Gialos gives the place a secluded feel, though the harbour and its tavernas and cafes are only a short walk away. The setting is tranquil, with lush gardens and the shore right there, just 20 steps or less from the bedroom to the beach. Artemis hotel has been beautifully renovated recently and feels truly special. Everyone on staff was wonderful and welcomed us with warmth and generosity from the moment we arrived. Kima restaurant is a lovely place to enjoy a delicious meal while watching the sunset across the bay. Thank you to all the Artemis staff for such an enjoyable holiday. We'd love to come back.

We loved the real Greek feel here, especially seeing so many locals at the beach. The staff were really friendly, and breakfast had a lovely range of choices from the menu. The grounds are beautiful, with grapevines, limes and palms, and the rooms have sea views. I was worried when I saw the hotel had only two stars on Booking, but that felt completely undeserved. Everything we needed was there, and the sea is less than a minute away. I couldn't have hoped for a better vacation.

We stayed in June 2022 with my partner and our two children, aged 2 and 5, and I’m only just getting around to reviewing it. Maria was a wonderful host, and Panos and the other bar staff were warm and gave great service. The place is family run, good quality and very good value, with an easy walk into town and some nice places to eat. The restaurant and bar are clean and smart, with a beautiful view while you eat breakfast, lunch or dinner. Every meal I tried was delicious, from local dishes to western food like spaghetti bolognese. The beach has clear water and a relaxed feel, though it’s a bit stony for my taste if you’re not on a lounger. If you have kids and want a pool, the hotel across the road and a little down the hill has one that guests can use. I think the unwritten expectation is to buy a drink or two. Thanks to Maria and the team for such a lovely stay last year.

In 2025 the place had been renovated and was at a high level, so I highly recommend it. There’s a lovely spot on the water with its own stretch of beach, and the restaurant welcomes non-residents. You can eat with a Caribbean outlook over the sea, and the prices are good.

The shore is in a magical spot on the Mediterranean, and renting a car lets you find plenty of beautiful beaches nearby, sometimes with nobody else there. The restaurant serves generous portions of traditional home-style Greek food as well as fresh modern dishes. There’s a wide choice of drinks at the bar, and the local raki is worth trying. If you’re lucky, you might get to join the Greek dancing at one of the party nights. The hospitality was Greek hospitality at its best. One of my best vacations, and I’d give it more stars if I could.
