The terraces are the highlight, with amazing views both in daylight and after dark, and the hotel’s layout eventually leads you up to the village’s main paved street and central square. The building’s style was a surprise to us, with at least four levels arranged across separate terraces. Staying on the third or fourth floor means a lot of narrow outdoor stone steps, so for a short visit it may be easier to leave bulky luggage in the car. Some rooms are tiny, though a few look out over Volos and the sea. The rooms’ decor gave us an amusing Addams Family castle impression. Breakfast was very good, with traditional organic eggs and homemade sweets and jam. We only spent one night, but plan to return to Makrinitsa and the Pelion region. We got there in the evening after losing our way from Volos and accidentally taking the very narrow streets in Stagiates. Parking in Makrinitsa during high season is nearly impossible, but the hotel has three or four spaces if you’re good at maneuvering.

We had a lovely time in this one-of-a-kind place, especially enjoying the sweeping panoramic view. The room had lots of useful features, including soundproof windows, air conditioning, a minibar, fridge, and TV, and the room service was great. There was plenty to choose from at the breakfast buffet. Definitely recommended.

The view is spectacular, and the main building is pretty fair. The property is split between two buildings on a steep mountainside, though. If you’re placed in the lower one, getting anywhere involves a tiring 200-meter uphill walk. We ended up taking the car each time, then had to deal with finding a parking spot.

We had a great stay and I’d happily come back. The children had space to run around, our room was ready for the season and fully equipped, and the bathroom was roomy. I especially liked sitting with coffee in the lounge café and taking in the spectacular view. The staff were friendly and made us feel at home, and breakfast was homemade and appetizing. A lovely place in a great location, and I recommend it.
