The Botanica Gardens were worth the climb, though you’ll want to be fit and wear decent shoes. There’s plenty to see around here, so it helps to plan your outings. Chania is easy to reach on the main bus route, about 16 km away and a 35-minute ride for €2.50. At Mike's Hotel, my sea-facing room had a balcony, and I felt welcome as soon as I arrived. I stayed for seven days and chose bed and breakfast, which was a good call: there was fruit, croissants, bread, cakes, eggs, honey, yogurt, cereal, bacon and sausage. Most people I spoke with were repeat guests, and I understand why. It was my first stay, but it won’t be my last.

We felt safe and comfortable the whole time, and there were plenty of sunbeds around the clean, well-kept pool and gardens. It’s an ideal spot for getting around, especially by bus, and the car hire place next door was helpful and informative. The pool bar staff were friendly and quick. We had breakfast every morning and ate dinner there four times, with good home-cooked food served very well. Our room was spotless, though a little dated, and the self-catering equipment was limited. It’s a well-run independent family business, and the positive reviews are deserved. We’ll come back.

We stayed in a studio for two weeks. It was very well equipped, and the cleaner did an excellent job. The towels and sheets were changed regularly. The pool area was spotless, with a great pool bar and lovely staff. We also ate dinner at the hotel, and the food was excellent. Manos and Sofia do a brilliant job.

A really relaxing place, with very good weather for much of the year. Hardly any kids running around, so it seems especially suited to people over 40. The apartments and the surrounding garden were very clean, and the staff were great. Good facilities too. Five stars.

The pool and bar area are quite spacious, and the apartments are a good standard. Staff were friendly and attentive.
