What we found was nothing like the suite we had booked through a tour agency. It looked neglected, with dusty, worn furniture and a shabby entrance door. The floors were dirty, the bathroom filthy, and the shower leaked. There were stains on the sheets and worn, stained towels, and we even found a cockroach in a kitchen cupboard. We reported the problems, and the local Christian Tour representative called the hotel manager. He said we had received “excellent services,” but there was no proper cleaning during our stay. On day three, staff came into our rooms, took a few empty cans, and left everything else, although we'd asked for the rooms to be cleaned. Neither the sheets nor towels were changed, and there was no toilet paper. We were told to buy it ourselves because the hotel only provides some for the first 2-3 days. The whole stay was unpleasant, with unfriendly, aggressive behavior and no basic hospitality. This wasn't what we paid for.

Getting around was easy, with great bus connections to nearby towns and attractions, and the beach, shops, cozy cafés, and lots of restaurants were all a short walk away. Even with everything close by, Aglaia Apartments itself felt calm and peaceful. The drinks at Aglaia Hotel were fantastic after a day at the beach, and nearby dining choices seemed endless. I felt safe here, and the welcoming atmosphere made the experience feel personal. The staff were incredibly friendly and ready to help, and the property was well cared for. Our apartment was spotless, spacious, and beautifully maintained, with very clean rooms. It was a great spot to relax, and exceeded my expectations. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Crete.

There was a €50 air conditioning fee that we only heard about when we arrived. If we'd known beforehand, we wouldn't have booked. The apartment also looked different from the photos, and cleanliness was a problem: the bathroom hadn't been properly cleaned, and the bedding and towels were stained. The hosts were unprofessional. I saw the younger receptionist, who spoke English, only at check-in. The older staff member was rude, and spoke English only to tell us to leave before 11 a.m., despite the listed checkout time being 12. A very poor experience, and I wouldn't recommend this place.

It felt more like an abandoned building than a place for tourists. From the first day the room was filthy: stained sheets, a disgusting bathroom, a cockroach in the kitchen, a broken shower, a rusty stove, and furniture falling apart. Reception was shut, and the so-called staff were rude and useless. Housekeeping came once in three days, but didn't clean, change the sheets, or replace the towels. There was no basic hygiene or respect for guests. Don't waste your time or money here.

Crete itself is beautiful, and the people we met there were friendly and welcoming. This place, though, was extremely disappointing, and I wouldn't recommend it at all for a first trip to Greece. The apartment was disgusting and full of cockroaches, with a crack in the so-called shower room and a broken sink. There was also a broken window in there. No one greeted us when we arrived. We waited almost an hour for the owner, who was very rude and offered no pleasantries. We asked for water from the outdoor fridge and were told he had no key, so at midnight we had to walk around looking for somewhere to buy some. We had to buy another suitcase for our things. As we walked through the apartments with it, the owner, who doesn't speak English, burst into our room and more or less accused us of bringing another person in. I could go on like War and Peace, but this was an awful experience. Maybe Crete's friendly people should teach this place some manners and cleanliness.
