Enorme Ammos Beach

They surprised us with a delicious cake for my husband's birthday, completely of their own accord. Such a thoughtful gesture. The beach is gorgeous, with clear, calm water, and on the day we left we could still enjoy it and use a bathroom to shower. The hotel is beautiful, with very friendly and attentive staff. Check-in and check-out were easy and smooth. We felt very comfortable and would definitely recommend it!

We spent nine days here with my girlfriend and had an amazing time. The place is super clean, the rooms have everything you need, and the staff are friendly and really good at their jobs. You can spend the day at the beach or relax by the pool, whatever you're in the mood for. Some reviews said the food was repetitive or bland, but we found that completely off the mark. Breakfast was among the best I've had, and every evening brought a nice selection of international dishes and tasty local Greek food. Manos at reception deserves a big shoutout. He was always helpful and professional, and just a genuinely nice guy. We had a laugh with him and already look forward to seeing him again. Thanks too to the cleaning ladies, who work so hard in the heat and keep the whole place spotless. One small suggestion: drinks and the shared facilities with Bikini Beach felt a bit pricey. A discount for hotel guests might help. We ended up avoiding the bar in the evenings because we knew we could pay less somewhere else, which was a shame since it left the place feeling a little empty. Even so, I really can't recommend this place enough!

The warm sea was lovely this time of year, and there was a lifeguard on the beach. Just be aware of the northern Crete winds: there were a few days when swimming wasn't possible and the red flag was out. There are plenty of beach loungers, and they're just as good as the gazebos, sometimes better placed for sun. The gazebos do require a minimum spend. We booked this as a luxury stop for our fourth anniversary during a trip along the northern coast. The location is the real gem, though there are plenty of other nearby hotels with beaches and views just as good. The hotel advertises itself as 5* on sites like luxury escapes, but I wouldn't rate it that way. To me it's more like a 3* hotel with good interior design taste. Our room was clean, with a great balcony view. The cleaners did a great job keeping the rooms and common areas clean throughout the day, and they were very friendly. The buffet breakfast and dinner were okay, but nowhere near the standard of other 5* hotels we've stayed at in Crete. Some food was stale or overcooked, though the fresh fruit was wonderful. The 'free' 15 minute massage is really a discount, since you have to pay for a full massage to get those 15 minutes free. One of the worst parts was the service and staff attitude. The water was cut off several times in one day, so we couldn't use the toilet or shower. Staff just apologized and said we had to wait for it to come back on. Once that took over an hour. It happened during dinner service, and they didn't offer bottled water for washing or extend dinner service, even though many people couldn't get ready because of the outage. It felt like they didn't care and were doing the absolute bare minimum. For the price, I wouldn't stay here again. You can get nicer hotels with better service for less. I'd come back to the area for the beautiful views and beaches, but stay somewhere else.

Bill at the beach bar deserves special recognition. He was polite, attentive, friendly and genuinely warm-hearted, and his professionalism really impressed us. He made sure we felt taken care of. We've traveled a lot and had both good and bad experiences, so the service here really stood out. The whole team seemed to care about making guests feel at home. From beginning to end, we had a fantastic stay: the staff were welcoming and friendly, the property was spotless, and the location beside a beautiful beach couldn't have been better. The atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. We'd love to come back and will recommend the hotel to friends and family without hesitation. Thank you for such a great experience!
