Galini Apartments

It was inexpensive, so we came with low expectations and ended up feeling it worked out well. The rooms were clean but very old. The kitchen had pans, plates, cutlery, an oven, a stove, and a mini fridge, but no dish soap or sponge. Fresh towels and sheets came every other day. You pay extra for air conditioning. We managed without it at night, but opening the windows let in so many mosquitoes that it was hard to sleep. Window nets would help. The pool bar was there, though it always seemed closed when we got back around 6 or 7 pm. Some music by the pool would also make the place more enjoyable. It has potential, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you plan to spend all day at the hotel, as it could get boring.

The staff were kind and really helpful. We arrived at midnight, and someone showed us to our room. It was clean and comfortable, and the air conditioning kept it cool throughout our stay. Galini even had a parking space for our rental car. The kitchen equipment could use some improvement, but I’d still recommend the hotel without hesitation.

We stayed for 10 nights and were happy with it. There’s a kitchen if you want to cook or make breakfast, and the room has air conditioning. The beach is only a few minutes away. Check-out is at 12, but you can leave your bags at reception while waiting for your airport transfer, and reception has air conditioning too. The staff are really friendly. I’m not sure what the negative reviews are about.

We stayed for a week with our son. It was kept clean and looked after nicely, and despite being so close to the centre of Malia, it was surprisingly quiet. Being near both the beach and a swimming pool made it a great place to stay. The staff were very helpful with arranging a taxi and other requests. The beds were the main downside.
