Votsalakia Hotel

This is a family-run place with a tavern facing the sea, a pool and very clean rooms. Air conditioning costs extra. Breakfast was simple but great, and dinner changed from day to day. You could ask at reception for a vegetarian option at no extra charge. There were live concerts at nearby bars almost every night. If we wanted quiet, closing the balcony did the trick. It's not a luxury five-star hotel, and it doesn't pretend to be. I was pleased with the value and would recommend it to people who want to relax by the beach while still having the option to head out and explore.

We had a renovated room, and Room 201 was super: big, with a huge balcony and a sea view. The Wi-Fi was great too, since every room has its own access point. They’re renovating the rooms in stages, with the next batch planned for this winter, so the rest should be updated by next summer. The spot in Kampos is ideal, right on the beach and in the middle of the shopping, bar and restaurant strip. Dinner at the Votsalakia restaurant was good. We were on half board, and the reception showed what was being served each day. If it didn’t appeal, we could choose something else there and they’d sort it out. Breakfast is a simple buffet, but the location and especially the employees more than make up for that. Great place, especially for the price! And they even have Bradley Cooper at reception. How cool is that.

The hotel is in a nice location, with lovely gardens, and the people working there gave good service. But the room had a foul sewage smell. We reported it, and they tried to fix it, though it came back after a couple of hours, so they moved us to another room. For what the hotel costs, the rooms and breakfast really weren’t worth it.

The beach is right next door, and there’s also a swimming pool at the hotel. The staff were very friendly, the place was clean, and the towels were changed twice during the week. Breakfast was quite plentiful too. A pleasant hotel and very good value for money. I’d recommend it for a week’s stay.
