Hotel Esperia

We enjoyed coming back for a second stay. The garden was gorgeous, and the hotel and area around it were quiet, apart from the occasional rooster crowing. It’s near fields rather than a touristy spot, which suited us. The beach is about a 10-minute walk along a road with a pavement. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were so friendly, especially in the restaurant. They always greeted us with big smiles.

The hotel is nicely designed and unpretentious, with lovely furniture, and the beach is a seven-minute walk away. The pool is terrific, and the place is very clean and quiet. The cleaning staff do a great job, the beds are fine, and the showers are adequate despite their poor design. Food was a weaker point. The breakfast buffet wasn’t impressive, and during our first week it had no fruit, though it was fair for the price. Dinner buffet was awful. The bar, though, is very nice, and ionella is a superb bartender. Lunch from the bar menu is good value and much better than the buffet. The staff are kind and keep tables clean with a smile. Daniella is lovely. Smoking is common here, so it’s a haven for smokers and not a good fit if you dislike it. Smoke from guests next door can drift onto your balcony and into your room because the rooms aren’t very soundproof. The front desk wasn’t very helpful.

We had a great mountain view from our room, and I really liked that there were several cats around the property. They were well behaved and clearly looked after. Service was kind throughout, from reception to breakfast and the cleaning staff. The hotel has a nice pool, and our room had its own well-functioning A/C. Breakfast was good, since we chose to eat dinner out. The beach is about a seven-minute walk away, and there’s a very well-stocked supermarket nearby with souvenirs, alcohol including some exotic bottles, beach gear, and plenty more.

We had a really calm, comfortable stay in a clean, spacious room that felt just right. The staff were very friendly, breakfast had lots of good options, and one of the island’s best beaches was only a couple of minutes away. Dinner could use some improvement, though. The real letdown was the Wi-Fi. It was terrible, and even the lobby connection didn’t work properly. That’s a shame, because being able to get online helps you feel at home. If they fix that one issue, the stay would be even more comfortable. It’s a lovely resort for a longer visit.
