The best thing is that it’s close to GG and has a nice view. The rooms were dirty, including mirrors with stains, and the plumbing barely worked. It took five minutes for the sink to drain, the shower was awful, and warm water wasn’t guaranteed. There was no fresh water on site, with the nearest supply a 10-minute walk away. There’s no shop either, just a small one five minutes away. The cheapest electrical light buzzed loudly the whole time, like something in a police waiting room, and the apartments were very noisy with no soundproofing. There was no shampoo or soap. Cooking felt dangerous because cables had been burned from previous use. There was only one outlet, so you had to choose between cooking and boiling water, and the cables were too short to cook comfortably. One piece of cooking equipment broke and had to be replaced. I didn’t get the room I’d ordered either. I specifically asked for one double bed but got two singles. You can’t pay on site. You have to walk 15 minutes to the office, where their card terminal kept failing, then walk farther to an ATM. A great way to spend a holiday, wasting time on walks and dealing with one malfunction after another. All together, it was a nasty, unfriendly, dangerous disaster. I strongly advise avoiding it.

The location, just below Grande Grotta and some of the best-known climbing crags, is probably the only real plus. The rooms were loud and untidy, which I didn’t expect so far from Masouri, and the standard didn’t justify the high price. It was hard to get in touch with the owner, and payment was due at the start of the stay.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and there’s a pool to cool off in after a morning of climbing. It’s a short walk up the hill to grand grotto, and the view over kalymnos is probably the best around. Just perfect!

Low cost.

The location is the one good thing. The place feels neglected and run-down. The sink is a little broken, and it takes several minutes for hot water to arrive. The hotplate is nearly unusable, there’s very little crockery, and some towels are torn. The pool was empty. At least there’s air conditioning. It looks like nobody has looked after the place for a long time. If you want cheap accommodation very close to the Grande Grotta and don’t care about anything else, it could work. A double room was €30 per night.
