Stoes Traditional Suites

George is a wonderful proprietor who goes out of his way to make a stay in Mesta memorable. He’s full of local knowledge and offers old-world hospitality. The beautifully appointed suites sit inside the medieval castle village, a world away from a typical tourist experience. Locals and business owners are remarkably welcoming too. Whatever suite you choose, you’re unlikely to forget George’s warmth or the experience of discovering Mesta.

George made us feel welcome right away, met us when we arrived and helped us get to our suite. He went through the accommodations, answered our questions about town, and suggested restaurants, activities and sights. He was an absolute pleasure to deal with. The suites are built into Mesta’s historic structures, which have stood for centuries, but they’re fitted out with modern conveniences and were extremely comfortable. We could hardly believe we were staying inside such an old building. You’re right in the ancient city, free to wander streets once used by the people who lived here long ago. There’s history all around, places to eat inside and just beyond the fortress walls, and welcoming people. We highly recommend Stoes Traditional Suites!

Staying in Mastichochoria, especially the Medieval Settlement of Mesta, felt like stepping back in time. The trip to Chios had been a lifelong dream, and the island lived up to it, with beautiful beaches and places to explore. Stoes Agiares is a spotless, lovingly restored two-story stone house with more than the essentials for a family. From the start, Mr. George shared information about the island and was available whenever we needed help. Meeting him felt familiar, as if we’d known him for years. Eleftheria, who looked after our house each day, was cheerful and very friendly. The residents are kind, and wherever you go you can feel how much they love their home. The whole place smells of mastic, a scent that will stay with us for a long time. We’ve boarded the ship home, but part of us will remain on the island. We hope we get to visit this blessed place again.
