We spent two weeks at Methonisfinest Afentika Pigadi and have just got home. I hadn't been to Greece in over 30 years, and our stone cottage with two bedrooms exceeded our expectations in every way. We were so happy with it. My partner is disabled and mostly uses a wheelchair, so suitable accommodation can be hard to find. Before booking, I spoke with Mario, the general manager, and explained our needs. Many reviews mention him because he's excellent at customer service, but also kind, compassionate, and a true gentleman. He explained how the property would work for us, including that my partner would face at most one or two steps. That's exactly how it was, and for us the place was a breeze accessibility-wise. We brought our own suction-cup shower grab rail, and Mario arranged a plastic seat for the shower. You can't expect everything to be just like home, but he got things pretty close. Getting to the pool on foot or by wheelchair was easy, with at most one step onto the deck. The pool has steps and a good support rail, so we could enjoy a swim and some mobility exercise before starting the day. I found the local area pretty accessible too, with low-level pavements and pedestrian areas. We were there late in the season, so not everything in Methoni was open, but we found what we needed. In summer the village must be amazing. Pylos and Gaivola were our busy-day choices, with great people-watching and lovely views while having lunch or supper. There were lots of places to choose from and most served great food. We also enjoyed some lazy days at Il Distino Beach club, which has an accessible ramp from the car park. Having a hire car from the airport made things easy. The property sits about a mile outside Methoni in the hills, a wonderful getaway setting. We parked near our stone house, and after a day out we could cook or get a drink from the fridge. The indoor and outdoor spaces were perfect for relaxing. The showers were clean, with ours being walk-in and having a small lip at the tray. The soft, freshly laundered towels were lovely, and our extremely comfortable bed was perfect for a nap or a proper sleep. The property was beyond amazing. We're grateful to Mario, Mary, and the whole team for the memories we brought home. A one-in-a-million find, and we'll return. Welcome to Greece, “now just relax”.
