We spent three October nights in a junior suite. The staff were so kind and helpful, and the location made a good base for exploring nearby. The pool and sunbeds looked lovely, but we couldn’t use them as much as we’d hoped because the sun never reached them. Maybe that’s different in summer.

Our room at the Monastery Estate in Sougia had a small, peaceful terrace with a pool, a nice little hideaway. It was spacious and comfortable, though quite minimal. The staff were attentive and very friendly, and helped with all our questions. Georgia even went out of her way to help when we realized we’d misplaced our car key. The location also worked perfectly for exploring the area and hiking Samaria Gorge. The bathroom needs a makeover. It’s very basic, the paint was peeling, and the towel rack had broken off.

A quiet spot up in the mountains, and the staff were wonderful. They helped with everything we asked for and pointed us to some really good places. We spent a few nights at Monastery Estate Retreat and have only good things to recommend.

Sougia and Lissos were lovely places to enjoy from this peaceful hotel. Our room looked out onto a beautiful mountain view, and it was a really calm place to rest. The whole team was kind and professional, and I’d like to thank them all.

There’s no restaurant on site, and food orders are brought right to your room, so guests can keep to their own private space. If you’d rather eat out, the village taverna is about a two-minute walk uphill, and I recommend it. The hotel itself was amazing: luxurious rooms, a beautiful view, very friendly reception staff, and a level of privacy we loved.
