Poseidon (JMK)

We really appreciated the complimentary shuttle to and from the port. The hotel is only a few minutes from the town centre, and our room had a little sea view to enjoy. The breakfast was among the best we had in two weeks in Greece, which says a lot given how good the food is there. The rooms were beautifully designed. The showers leaked a bit, leaving a puddle on the floor, and there was some drain odour, but nothing too serious. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Service was excellent throughout, from reception and the pool bar to housekeeping. Everyone seemed well trained and knew their role. It's an exceptional hotel in a great location.

Just a few minutes from downtown, the location was great. Breakfast had limited variety, though the quality was good. I only stayed two nights and was happy with my stay.

The hot breakfast was my main frustration. I raised the temperature issue twice, and the next day the food island was turned up slightly and the plates warmed, which helped a little. But the following day it was back to normal, around 58 degrees. I don't know whether that meets UK food standards, though we didn't get food poisoning. The breakfast selection itself was broad, with continental items, cold meats and cheese, fruit, bread and pastries, plus cooked food including three egg dishes, vegetables, streaky bacon, chorizo, beans and potatoes. The choices were the same each day. Our suite was a good size, with a comfortable bed, bottled water, tea and coffee, a minibar restocked daily, and a free safe. The hotel was very clean and well kept, perhaps recently refurbished. Staff at reception, housekeeping and the pool bar were brilliant. Before we arrived, the hotel got in touch to arrange an airport shuttle. The driver was waiting when we landed and handled the return trip efficiently. The location was convenient, about two miles from the airport and 50 metres from the start of Mykonos town, the bus station and taxi rank. We only saw the breakfast service; the pool bar had a reasonable food selection, but we didn't see the hotel restaurant open, perhaps because there wasn't much demand. There was quite a bit of noise outside our suite, which faced the road, from people and traffic into the early hours. The town is a party place, and pounding music could be heard late, though it wasn't especially intrusive. We also heard neighbours scraping chairs over hard floors and walking around. There are lots of steps between the pool, bar, reception and breakfast room. I didn't spot any lifts. If the hotel were full, there might not be enough pool sunbeds; it was barely half full when we visited, so we were fine. The room TV had only two English-language channels, Sky News International and Al-Jazeera. These drawbacks didn't spoil the experience. It's a great hotel and I'd stay there again, although I doubt we'll return to Mykonos.
