Amalia Hotel Nafplio

The pianist was the best part of our visit, excellent and genuinely kind, cheers to him. The hotel itself is stylish and pleasant, with good design and a great pool area in summer. But the staff's cold, indifferent manner made it hard to rate the place higher. If you care about genuine hospitality, the disengaged staff seem to need proper guest service and empathy training. It's a real letdown for what could otherwise be a wonderful stay. I wanted to give two stars, and I'm surprised by all the recent five star reviews. Honest feedback matters when people are deciding how to spend their money.

Breakfast was included, and it was a massive spread. The price was very reasonable too. The hotel was lovely and very clean, with friendly, helpful staff. It isn't right in the middle of everything, but we didn't mind that at all.

We had a spacious room opening onto a small courtyard, and the WiFi was OK. The hotel is large and out of town, but very quiet, though tourist buses can make it busy. Check-in and checkout were quick and easy. Our stay included buffet breakfast and dinner, with plenty of options. The dessert choices at night were hard to beat, though I wasn't sure how to order drinks. There’s a pool and gym as well.

What stood out most was how friendly and helpful everyone was, from reception and housekeeping to the bar and restaurant. The hotel is spacious, clean and beautiful, and our favorite place in the evening was the piano bar. I highly recommend it. The rooms have older furniture, but it’s still clean and useful. Wheelchair access is easy. You can't really walk anywhere from here, since there are no walking routes, so you'll always need a car. There’s no playground for young kids either. When the hotel is full over the holidays, the youngest guests can be a little annoying. Still, there are lots of large rooms and plenty of space for everyone. If you're after a quiet place for mindfulness or a romantic stay away from a big city, this is your place. We'll definitely return.
